I have a full set of paper designs for Sonas on board and decided to take advantage of this extended home time to digitize them. When I was laying them out to photograph I was surprised to find that included among the GA 53 plans were plans for an '89 DeFever 49 Pilothouse. Designed by the Sharp DeFever Group out of San Diego. Perhaps the previous boat owned by the couple that built the GA 53.

Anyway for anyone interested the plans are here, along with details schematics for the GA 53 AC and 24V systems.

I don't have either of these boats but still love this type of boat-porn.

You have a very pretty boat (I may be just a little biased though). :thumb:

Ours is a 60 with an extended swim platform, so marina's charge us for 63'. Really liking how she rides, sips fuel for her size, and slices through the water nice and smooth. Only wish it came with a hardtop and more height in the engine room.

Same here. Our ER I would say is about shoulder height.

What engines?

Our normal cruise speeds are 9.5-10kts at 8.4gph. If we slow down to 8kts we get 4gph. Somehow I can't stay at 8kts for too long, weird how the extra 1.5-2kts make the trip feel so much faster. In the grand scheme of things fuel isn't anywhere near the overall yearly running/maintenance budget.

We have a sistership Grand Alaskan 60 with the same engines & I agree totally with your comments. Great boat, very comfortable & good value for the size. Somehow 8 kts just doesn't cut it when you can do 10!

A sisterahip, would be nice to hear your upgrades and other updates you did on your GA. Are you in the BC area? Can’t wait to have the borders open up again.

We are in BC on Pender Island, but we keep our GA in Florida for winter cruising. Upgrades & updates, man we have 10 years worth now! Added solar panels, replaced non skid, replaced both anchors, flybridge bimini extension, AC rezoning upgrade, furniture & curtains. I just priced out an electronics upgrade of our 12 year old Raymarine system to Garmin, but can't justify the costs, especially given the exchange rate of the Cdn dollar to US. I imagine you have similar tales to tell?

Bob, are you in Florida now or Canada?

What are your cruising plans for the rest of this year?

We are in Canada now. Not sure of our cruising plans this coming winter as the border may stay closed for quite some time. We are considering moving our boat to Nassau & cruising out of there this winter as I see they have just opened up again to boaters.
How about yourself, any plans yet?

Back surgery in two weeks and under light duty for twelve weeks after that. This takes us to October 1st.

We are tentatively thinking of a SW Florida and Dry Tortugas run Oct-Nov before the holidays.

Then Exumas down through the far Bahamas again starting next spring.

Then (and I started a thread on this) maybe looping or part looping 2002.
