I was looking for information on how the Yanmar engines were holding up. I was never a fan of ours and just curious.

What model Yanmar?

What problems are you having with yours?

You're going to limit yourself calling out owners of a low production number Nordhavn model, when there are likely MANY vessels with Yanmar's installed.

I ask because I just don't hear a lot of Yanmar complaints.

I have a 6LPA-STP2 which has been a good running engine. Easy to get parts, easy to service.

Our neighbor had one and I am very familiar with the Yanmar 6LY 370 which comes on the N35, having owned two of those engines on different boats.

They are very solid engines but like all high output diesels, don’t run them too hard for best life. I ran mine at 2,900 or below and made sure they would hit 3,300 rpm or greater at wot. They do require periodic maintenance of the R/W cooling systems, particularly the aftercooler.
