Hi All - Does anybody know how to tighten the spokes of a wood wheel in the lower helm of a 1989 42 Classic?

I do not think they were made to be tightened, if loose they shrunk, need filler as suggested.

On my Marine Trader there are wood screws facing forward on each spoke on the hub. I use a 90 degree screwdriver to give them a 1/4 turn every year or so. They tighten up nice.

I was wondering if there is a metal rod going through the spokes and rims to hold everything together and if that can be tightened??

You can buy some stuff from Lee Valley that you squirt into chair rails, it swells the wood and glues it.

:)Hello lanceolson
We have a 1989 36' GB/EU and at the ends of all the spokes on the wheel outside,
their are bungs covering what I presume to be adjustment screws. I would be
very careful drilling these out, but its like doing the ones in your deck.
Hope this helps. Will
