rough estimate to ship a boat

Hoping the mainship forum brain trust can give me a "best guess" to ship a carver 360 mariner form Jacksonville to New Orleans. I am told that only the radar arch which has a TV antenna only needs to be removed/lowered etc. About a 500 mile trips. 36 ft x12.75 beam

how far to just drive the boat?

I'm not familiar with the area but it seems like maybe a choice?

It’s been awhile since I shipped a boat by truck. It used to cost me $5,000 to ship from LA to Seattle. I would guess it’s now $7,000 to ship a boat 500 miles.

Trucking will certainly be your cheapest option for that size boat.

If you are getting quotes, be aware that it is the height on the trailer that mostly determines the cost. The truck is usually big enough for a much bigger boat, but costs the same to run. That beam requires permits and escort, but isn't excessive at all in the business. The big variable is height which will determine permit fees, escort fees, and allowable route. Below about 13' 4" is desirable (trailer adds about a foot). Much above that and costs can climb steeply.

Will need a pilot car due to width. As DDW says, if boat is more than 13'6" you're in a much different cost bracket. Specialty carriers such as Joule out of Clearwater FL have trailers that can dip the boat forward very low.

I would guess around $15/mile for road portion. $2.5k on each end to prep the boat at the yard assuming only arch needs to be lowered; props removed/re-installed, etc.
