Morse shifter

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
You're probably on the right track, but maybe just need to tighten things up in the shifter. They get a little sloppy and if the switch works with a little "jiggling" it my just be a few screws that need tightening.

Otherwise:

Some boats the switch in the helm quadrant, some it down on the transmission itself.

Ski is right, sometimes the switch is on the gear, in which case the "tighten things up" applies even more, it means that the gearshift is not in neutral when you're trying to start engine. The switches on the gear are very reliable.
