Fuel tanks not ballanced

Glad to hear it, but your system seems to have a design flaw with the tanks having separate filters rather than being plumbed such that all fuel to your single engine from both tanks is unfiltered until their flows enter the filtering arrangement where either or both filters are online. This should be simple to correct.

Probably never happen again but on a 77 Hatteras about 30 miles offshore we ran a tank dry and after checking all valves could not see any reason. Then we exercised (rotated) each valve and discovered one had virtually zero resistance. The shaft had sheared internally so while visually it looked correct we were drawing from one tank and returning to another. The farther away from land the less likely a problen will be easy to troubleshoot!

Success, we changed the fuel filters and it appears the problem is resolved. Will know more once we make a significant run but we did 9hrs this weekend and the fuel draw was even. Will provide pics and a sketch if problem persists.

Thanks all

Glad it worked out with a simple fix. Thanks for the update.
