We got our new boat….
1977 Marine Trader 34DC. Looking forward to all the lessons we are going to learn.
Still looking for a slip in New England. It is at Liberty Landing Marina, we were able to assume the slip until April 1st. More than likely will be on Lake Champlain for the 2022 season, but need to wait for the locks to open in the spring.

Nice looking boat!
You will have a great time on Lake Champlain. Was there this summer. Can't possibly see it all in one summer.

The CHB 34 was my first crush in trawlers. What a beautiful hunk of boat flesh!
Congrats

"True story" out of the Navy at Charleston SC.
The base CO would hold an afternoon gathering and all officers and their ladies were expected to show up.
When 'colors' was finished, he would say, "While you are standing, leave."
Same way on our boats.

Spent yesterday prepping her for shrink wrap, interesting the things you find. I found the original steadying sail, the original wiring schematic, Marine Trader price list on all models from 1977. Originally launched as the Laura B, price brand new in 1977 right around $41,000, with inflation that would be about $187,000 today.

Liberty Landing? Nice marina, but it would be hard to find a more expensive place to keep a boat. Maybe their long term rates are reasonable, but I know their transient rates are about the higest I've seen. Where do you live? You plan on moving to VT and if so, what part? Congrats on the new boat, looks great.

333 per ft. for dry storage in the winter, a little less for wet storage. We were able to assume the current contract which expires April 1st. So we are trying to find a place on the lower Hudson from April 1st. to when the locks open. Some places run an early season special for temporary dockage during Striper season. I'm hoping to be able find one of those. Right now we are looking at Champlain Bridge Marina (I'm not really fond of the stern to the seawall docking though) $70 pf. and Chipman Point Marina with a slip $45 pf.
Probably leaning towards the inexpensive so we can recover from some of the initial first year boat buying expenses.
We live in Bennington Vermont so Chipman Point would be a little less than 1 1/2 hrs away.
I am definitely open to other suggestions especially the April - May.

Further you can get from NYC the better. You might even want to think about somewhere in CT. You may need close to 2 months depending on the water levels in VT and NY. I bought my current boat from Champlain Bridge Marina (CBM). Nice place. Family business. Nice people and decent facilities. I don't think most slips are against a wall. I also spent a night at Chipman point. Again a nice quaint family business and decent marina. Very reasonable but so is CBM. Not sure if Chipman has the space or equipment for winter storage. CBM does including reasonable indoor heated storage. You should visit both and base your decision on driving distance and also where you intend to boat. There is not much around Chipman as it's pretty narrow there. The lake starts to open up north of the bridge and offers much more in terms of cruising destinations. If you go to CBM say hi to Bryan for me, he's the son that basically runs the place.
