Luhrs Marine Group files for bankruptcy protection
The Luhrs Marine Group, consisting of Silverton Marine Corp., Mainship Corp., Luhrs Corp., Hunter Marine Corp. and five additional subsidiaries, today filed voluntary petitions to reorganize under Chapter 11 in bankruptcy court in New Jersey, Hunter Marine president and chief restructuring officer John Peterson confirmed to Soundings Trade Only.

The Silverton factory had scaled down so much over the last few years...it was just around the corner from bankruptcy for awhile.

I like the styling of their 80's vintage boats...then they followed the Lemming look and overdid the Eurostyling thing to the point where their boats looked like cheapo spaceships.

A shame for the local economy...but good riddance to some of the world's ugliest boats.
 
Anybody else remember when boat manufacturers started coming out with fly-bridges and Luhrs had a screwed on sit-down fly-bridge? They didn't want to retool.
