We are getting closer to purchasing a trawler in the Chesapeake area.* (Not many up in the Long Island Sound area)* Since we are not local, we would like to get any reccomendations or suggestions of who to contact for a general survey as wel as one for the engine.

Thanks in advance.

Even more important than a surveyor....have someone familiar with the kind of trawler you are buying go over the boat with you even before the survey.

Even if you have to pay someone travel and buy a nice dinner or lunch for. IT WILL BE WORTH AT LEAST AS MUCH OR MORE THAN what the surveyor spits out.

Every survey I've ever had (by some of the most highly recommended guys) only scratched the surface of issues.*

Unless you have your heart set on a trawler and have lots of experience on them...just talking to another experienced trawler owner may even steer you into a different style, size, etc...

If you don't like that idea...then read every thread current and archived*in this forum and it will help almost as much! :)
