I have two of this Herreshoff type anchor that came with a 34' 1954 Chris Craft I bought around 1980.

I had them in my lazarette for storm anchors, but realized they were a little small for my 40 footer.

Anyone know from the stamp on the fluke who the manufacturer was.

John

Hollywood,

Thanks for the reply. I sent a picture to the Luke Boatyard. Not theirs.

Herreshoff folding anchors are three piece. So don't include that term in your search.

That is a two piece admiralty or navy stock anchor. Smaller ones like that with diamond flukes are often known as fisherman, kedge or just stock anchors.

Got to get up pretty early to beat Eric (Nomad Willy) to an anchor thread.

Looks like a Herreshoff knock off.
An old anchor. The Herreshoff part is the wide diamond shaped flukes. But IMO it can’t be older than the Herreshoff because the flukes wouldn’t have been there to copy. Interesting that the shank is bent but the stock is perfectly straight.
I’ll bet FF’s right.

Northern Spy I was a bit sleepy this am. Not 7 yet though.

Admiralty anchor, designed to lay flat on deck. I remember it well while serving aboard my first ship the HMS Victory.

Was admiral Nelson on board ?

No a snipers bullet layed him low. A medal is set into the deck at the exact spot where he died.

Both Wilcox-Crittenden and Lunenburg Foundry made anchors like that. I’ll vote with FF on this one- Lunenburg Foundry.
