I have a rather specific question relating to (early?) Nordhaven 62’s.

I had a close look over a late 90’s N62 recently. This boats has steel tanks forward of the engine room, under the accommodation floor. As part of the inspection I opened up the hatches in the cabin and passageway floors and looked down at the fuel pickups and access ports. There was some external corrosion on the tops of the tanks which got me thinking about what the rest of the tank, especially the bottom, might be like and how to get to it to check and if necessary neutralise the rust , and I suppose worst case scenario, patch.

Anyone dealt with tanks on a N62 and know if there is any access to the base of the tanks?

Thanks

With hull number in hand suggest you approach Nordhavn for any necessary checks and fixes. Best I recall the fuel and water tanks on later vessels are FRP. The earlier models were steel as you have found on Gray Matter.

:iagree:

If it is just surface rust you can wipe away, I would not be too concerned.
If the rust is thick, maybe you have a water leak from a leaking window?
Is the rust the same on all the fuel tanks tops?
It couldnt hurt to have the fuel polished and the inside of each fuel tank cleaned and inspected.
My N46 had 4 steel fuel tanks. No idea how many fuel tank the N62 has.
