Not sure if we should head out or not. Schedule to push off the dock this Thursday, guess we'll take our chances,
Hope everyone else gets out and enjoys their families, friends and boats. remember* a boat not used is a non-performing asset.
Enjoy
</td></tr></tbody></table>

I wouldn't chance it if I were you. Have never seen a forecast like that in Maine. Looks suspicious to me.

>

Try the PNW. Sunny days, what few we see, don't start until July 5th.

Ron

Mark, you're kidding me, aren't you.*

Mark,

*

Absolutely, we are headed out to* Manadville Thursday afternoon. Well be staying out till after the fouth, hope to see the Coot out there. W could't have asked for better forecast. I was out there last Friday* looking for spots to anchor up when I get there and there are boats already anchored out.

*

If I got more than a couple of weekends like that a*season I count myself lucky.

Ya Know what it doesn't really matter what the weather. I go boating regardless.

SD

Here's our next six day forecast for San Diego. We don't know if we'll chance it or not as we like 70-72, full sun and winds 0-5. :nana:

You guys are really sick. Softies. Real boaters go out in all kinds of weather to hone their skills (and cry with envy :crying:).

And we have an invitation to go for a toot on friends' "new" Selene 53 on Sunday the 26th, but with an automatic cancellation, with no rain date, if the weather is too bad. Come on New England weather: Do your thing. Change as you are reputed to do. But for the better. Please. For once.

Dave:

All kidding aside, I'd really like to know what you think of that Selene 53. if it isn't

up to your New England standards, you can PM me.

Oh darn we are supposed to go to the delta July 2nd. Not sure we can handle all that heat and sunshine. We live in the bay area you know. LOL.

Temperatures were seven to ten degrees hotter than predicted.* When I left Fairfield with transmission oil filters it was 102, and upon arrival at Vallejo, it was 95 (this was by automobile).* Too hot to work changing transmission fluid today.* Oh well, in a couple of days nature's air conditioning will suck in cool Pacific winds.

If everything goes to plan, I'll be "patrolling" Carquinez Strait mid-day this Thursday, and so should*be in sight of Dswizzler (Mark & Cindy) going east to the warm*Delta and Flywright (Al) going west to the cooler*San Francisco Bay.* If there, I'll be monitoring channel 9.

edit: not 9 but 71.

Yup, I'll be seeking a respite from these mid-90's with no humidity. Headed for Angel Island and the high 60s-low 70s for a few days. I expect to be passing through the area around 1230 on Thurs, 6/23. DSwizzler, when do you expect to pass through the Carquinez Straights area?

I'll be talking to my traveling buddy on "Bot" (42 Jefferson Sundeck in burgundy/white colors) on Ch. 71. Ch 9 gets a lot of bridge traffic (at least in the delta area), but I'll monitor it in the Carquinez Straights/Benecia area. I always scan 16 also.

I'll have my camera at the ready to get some shots of your vessels underway, so don't leave your fenders hanging!! I'd even be willing to make some formation flybys to get some real good shots.

*And don't forget to post them for the rest of us to view.

OK!* Channel 71.

Suspect I'll miss you guys, need to wait for the wife to get off work and won't be pushing off the dock much before 4PM. I'm currently tied up in the new side of the Pittsburg Marina and should be working from the boat all day, so if you pass by toot the horn, and I'll get a shot of you going by. Hilton called and is expecting about 3-400 boats for the private party on the 4th.

85-90 might sound abit warm, but up in the delta, that is perfect weather, makes you want to get wet. Then at night the temps can drop 20-30 degrees so good for sleeping.

Sorry I'll miss you, Mark and Cindy. I'll be nearby for the Hilton party, but didn't get a private invite! We'll be remotely crashing the party at anchor in Mildred Island. We like to be away from the crowds and the mayhem, but will idle through the gauntlet on our way to Mildred's.

If I see the Delta Swizzler, I'll man the water balloon launcher (in defense, of course).

Also, on Thurs 6/30, I have some flight checks to do in the vicinity of Stockton Airport and will be heading home to Sacramento from there. I might be flying right by Mandeville in the Learjet. If I make it, I'll fly a 360 degree circle over the area and snap a photo or two. I'll look like this:

FlyWright,

With any luck I should be in the gauntlet, I'll keep and eye out for you and should be easy to find,

Alright, Flywright!

I'm planning to leave Vallejo*before 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, and head eastward toward the Delta, monitoring channel 71.* Hopefully, there will be sufficient wind to make it worthwhile to raise sails.* Perhaps we'll meet somewhere between the Suisun Bay*bridges and Martinez.* I'll stay toward the north side of Carquinez Strait.

Sounds great, Mark! I'm on the boat and plan to be heading out of Riverboat Marina by 8AM. Expecting your area 11:30ish. I'll keep a sharp eye out for you and will hail you on 71 as we approach. You'll probably hear Gene (P/V Bot, pronounced 'boat') and me on 71 as we get into the area.

Looking forward to seeing the Coot in real life!

Took some photos of Gene's boat too.* Here, with the mothball fleet in the background (can you pick out the battleship USS Iowa?).

We'll be nose into tules... on the hook around King Isle / Paradise Point - close to a well developed island inset where we we often play with family and with friends. Newly wed (6/11) daughter, hubby and their dog are with us for a couple of the days. We'll be scooting around in our tow behind runabout. We hook in a secondary slough and friends come over each year to watch 360 degree fireworks show from our bridge and sun deck area (Hilton's and many other's fireworks included). Plan to leave dock Wed PM. HAPPY 4th O' JULY - FELLOW AMERICANS!! - Art

Mark, It was great getting the opportunity to see the Carquinez Coot in full regalia. Here are some of the shots and I'll post some others and a video of our Coot Shoot very soon.

She's sure a beautiful vessel, Mark!!*

*Mark.

So how much do you get out of the sails. How many knts and how many RPM do you need to maintain Hull speed?

I don't remember what you have for an engine.

SD

Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread. But I just love the sails and photos there of
