Hi Marco, welcome to TrawlerForum, thank you for strengthening the European team !
Congratulations for your new boat, Bestway 42 (Marine Trader) is comfortable and very roomy.
Good luck, best wishes.

Yes, Marine Trader are good boats with strong hull , nice teakwood in cabins and salon. I guess your engines are Volvo TAMD ?

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on the new boat.

Welcome aboard!

She have in my opinion, qualitywise, the best motors, Volvo tamd 41. But spearparts are extremely, high priced even in Sweden. had a GM 6.5 V8 disel in my Coronet, 280Hp, parts priced 1/3 of Volvo.

Welcome! The Bestway 42 looks very nice and roomy, congratulations!
In 2008 I sold my previous boat, a Camano 31,(TAMD41) to a man from Varberg, Sweden. He had it shipped over on a freighter. Maybe one day you may see her on the water over there, I think it still goes by the same name SPIRIT.
good luck!

Welcome Marco. I´m Jonas, also from Stockholm now in Palma and my summerplace at Gotland. Btw, You are WAY older than I am - won´t turn 60 until a full eight (8) years. :)

Marco your boat is great. Congratulations.

About Coronet for those who do not know.

In the 65' Jim Wayne and Walt Walters designed a fiberglass deep V hull which was a very fast planing hull. Coronet 21' day cruiser & the 21' cabin cruiser (quickly extended to 24') were born.

Coronet boats were built by Botved Boats in Denmark, later by Burmeister & Wain of Denmark. In 1951, Ole Botved founded Botved Boats. In 1956, Botved created the brand Coronet, which means little crown.

Ole Botved had a sense for international marketing. In 1971, when he wanted to introduce the new Coronet 17 Runabout, he decided to throw a private garden party: In the middle of the party, the boat was delivered by helicopter and lowered into Ole Botved’s swimming pool.

A normal delivery of boats from the shipyard to the port of shipment in Copenhagen was turned into a parade of Coronets on open trailers instead of the usual closed trucks.

''A Coronet is hand-made - by specialists, who work meticulously. Look around the boat and you will realize that such a finish is rare today. But turn the inside out and you will find precision work also in places normally out of sight. That is what Coronet calls quality. Look at the way, gas tanks are secured - look at the fittings and metal details, or at the way, wooden items are made. Lift any hatch or lid and look at the reverse side. Please inspect the boat carefully and make comparisons, if you like. There will still be things, which are impossible to inspect, e.g. the fiberglass construction, which is laid up by hand, using matting, cloth and woven roving - with all joints and overlappings of double thickness - with a stringer system moulded into the bottom, connected to the reinforced transom by heavy knees. Balsa wood and plywood is moulded into the deck and superstructure for rigidity and insulation. All plywood used fulfills the requirements of W.B.P. - it can be boiled for 72 hours without delaminating. The seaworthiness of the deep Vee hulls is proven second to none by the thousands of Coronets, which have for years been operating around the world, either as pleasure boats or for commercial use. The exterior and interior design is Danish. It is functional and characterized by good taste - and good taste is never outdated. Based on these facts, Coronet has obtained an international reputation as Europe's leading manufacturer of family fiberglass powerboats. Not because they have built a bigger number of boats than others, but because the quality, the craftsmanship and the design of the boats are something in a class of its own."

Just for the footnotes of history even if I trust that doesn't interest anyone here. In early 1967 my father sold his Bell Boy runabout (built in Bellingham WA) to buy a Coronet 21' cabin cruiser, single engine Volvo Penta (sister-ship photo is attached). Beautiful boat, my parents enjoyed.
End of 1967 my father sold with a heavy heart his Coronet 21' to order a Chris Craft 30' Futura which he put on sale in September 1968 when his Grand Banks 42' hull # 52 was delivered from Hong Kong. Oh nostalgia, when you hold us !

Lovely boat Marco. Welcome to the forum. If you have any issues, like posting pics, just ask, although there are stickies at the top of the home page board that cover most 'how to dos'

Thank you everybody , yes Coronet, was and will allways be wonderful boats, i know i have had three of them, one 26 Family, one 31 seefarer, and the last 31 aft cabin, my dad had a 24 midi with twin VP 3 L inline six 170 hp each wen I was 15 , and he let me loan the boat in weekends, when he didn't use it, he even filled the gas tank, without complain, amazing. My older brother had a 32 oceanfarer, and a midi 24 with twin 5 L v8. But I must say our for us new trawler, feels like a good quality vessel. So I am shore we will be happy with here. Nice with so many new friends.

Skål, och tack.

You will find many other Marine Trader owners here. Enduring boats and the design remains very appealing.

My friend Eric's boat, just to show you Marine Trader's construction quality.
Built end of 1983, hull and teak deck still in the original condition. The hull have been polished and waxed last week, deck cleaned.
