Anyone have an AC windlass?

This is a DC motor, small but very powerful.
There is a full wave rectifier to make AC into DC.
And a lot of gears, pulls a foot per second.

Anyone ever seen a motor like this?

I had to fix my motor brushes.
It now works fine.
Two brush leads pulled out of the brush leaving a hole.

The way I fixed was simple. You can not glue or solder into a carbon brush
Take a piece of copper braided solder wick.
Make it twice the length needed.
Bend it in half.
Push the bend into the hole of the brush
Pull cotton fibers off a qtip
Pack the cotton into the hole tightly by hand between the copper braid so the braid presses against the copper brush.
Use some heat shrink over the copper braid leads.
Done. It has been a long term fix, working for years. Brushes were not worn.

I had tried to fix other ways, which were not long term successful.
I think maybe might have been able to find another motor, doubtful, but no brushes.

I like your fix.

I repaired my windlass motor some years ago but I got new brushes made at a local shop I know. Gave them an old brush as a sample, told them the lead length and the brush length I wanted. Trimmed to suit and they were just what the old thing needed. Worked like a hot darn. BUt I do like your idea.
