38' Gulstar (1983) stateroom remodel advise?

We just put money down on a 1983 Gulstar 38. Broker said aft cabin was a queen, but I'm calling it a full. Anyone try to remodel one of these staterooms to improve bed location/size (it isn't a centerline)? We're expecting to bring it to our dock in about a week, and are goin to be "beautifying" this gal. The bed is fine, but if we can improve or find a way to make more comfy, it's a plus. We will be living aboard, so it's a big switch from being day cruisers. Thanks!

A new mattress did the trick for ours, a centerline island queen size. Check what is under yours, on our boat the water tank is under the bed, no moving that.

Thanks! Yes, there's a tank under ours too. We are going to replace mattress once we get it thoroughly cleaned.
