Thinking ahead of projects when warmer weather arrives. Three of the scuppers on the boat are in need of replacement. I want to replace not patch and I will do all of them on the boat at the same time. I think these are vinyl, but I have not tried to source them yet so I'm not sure.

I would appreciate any tips from someone who has been through this. Bedding material, sealant and the unexpected.

Many times what was installed as a scupper in the boat ends up being used to pass spring lines .

If this is the case , be sure to purchase scuppers that are very very well rounded , inside and out, and large enough for a simple eye splice and 2 lines to pass.

This will usually require a larger opening cut to make the scupper fit.

After trimming the hole , cover the scupper wit 2 layers of aluminum foil and use filled epoxy to make them sit really tight.

Clean them up and use thru bolts , as in a serge the loads can be high.

We have scuppers and hawes holes. I think the scuppers are vinyl but not sure. What ever the material is, they are degrading. I'll be shopping later this week.
