Hello everybody! :hello: New to Trawler Forums but not to boating. I'm a licensed Masters Captain with a sailing and assisted tow endorsements. Spend summers in Missouri driving drunk people around Lake of the Ozarks at night and winter in Key West doing vessel deliveries and dolphin watching tours. I'm also a large scale event planner (5,000 to 100,000 attendees). I've owned a few vessels and lived aboard as well but really prefer to be paid to drive than pay the bill.

The Admiral has recently decided she would like a trawler and now we're searching. We have a $65k budget but would rather find a perfect boat at the Salvation Army for $10k. Her "ideal" boat is a Marine Trader Tri-Cabin Sundeck. I suggested she get a pet Unicorn to help us look. She wants a liveaboard trawler that can also comfortably cross the Gulf Stream, be miserly with fuel consumption but also be able to whisk her back to land at the first sign of 2' seas. I'm not sure anything like that exists.
So far we've seen a Grand Banks 38 and a Bayliner 38, looking at a Bertram shortly then a Californian 34 tomorrow. And she wants to take possession yesterday. Wish me luck!
