How serious are you? We know many people who live aboard their boat. We've been extended cruiser for the past seven years. With no regrets we gave away and sold everything from our businesses, home, and condo. It is a real pleasure just to pick a place and go. Everything we need is on board. In case of a disaster we do have a place to go.
I'd advise to only keep (and store) the items you really want to have or that cannot be replaced. All along the water ways you'll find ample opportunities to locate a condo, a house, and or dock if you decided to settle down later. Although it is good to have a long term plan, we do not; thinking that we are no longer able to motor on our boat, then we won't be able to live independently again either. There comes a times when you may realize that a person doesn't really own anything; they are just a caretaker as they pass through life. It is a choice of what to take care of as you walk along life's path.
