Ford Lehman oil pressure sender

Can anyone tell me how your oils pressure sender is wired. To alternator or anything else, thanks

Wire off sender goes to gauge. Sensor is installed in the ground. Sensor is a variable resistor, gauge is a voltmeter with a custom scale. Gauge is connected to power and passes it to ground through the sender.

If you have issues check continuity of the ground location to a good ground then the wire to the gauge. Then check voltage at the gauge. Be aware newer voltage regulators have variable voltage output which will skew the values as the voltage moves down from the initial charging level.

I’m not asking about the oil gauge, but the oil pressure that turns the alternator field on

It should get its power from the ignition switch or a relay activated by the ign. sw.

Then the wire SHOULD run to the pressure switch and then to the alternator field terminal.

That way the ign sw must be turned on, then the engine must be started to build the oil pressure to close the pressure sw. to start the alternator working.

Correct. Alternator turns on at 7psi.
