    ICW Veterans Help Needed!

I've accepted a position in the Myrtle Beach area and need to do a repositioning cruise this spring from Virginia Beach (Norfolk) to Murrells Inlet. I've heard and read a wide range of how long this should take (from three to nine days). Realistically, how long should this trip take assuming (no...

    1000 hr service info

We have the same boat with twins. The 1000 hour service was performed prior to our purchase when the boat had roughly 800 hours on it. The cost for both engines was $7000. If it were me, I'd budget for $4500- just a guess though. Jeff

    Would you...?

Nothing fancy- vinyl headliner material supplied by the canvas/upholstery people. I thought about doing this myself, but I'm glad I didn't. It took two people 20 hours to complete! The end result looks fantastic.

    Refrigerator Replacement '06 Pilot

The factory Nova Kool(R3800) finally quit and I'm looking for a new one. Has anyone tried other manufacturers that fit in the space without major renovation? Jeff

No duds (so far). I ordered another ten pack to do every interior light on the boat. 14 of 14 worked!

    Would you...?

I'm having the headliner replaced in the main cabin which would make this the perfect time to upgrade to LED lighting. The existing lighting works fine with no issues. 1) Would you bother or is this a solution looking for a problem? 2) Do I need marine specific (inside a cabin) or would these...

    Port Engine won't crank

Took a nice cruise today, anchored out and relaxed on a perfect summer afternoon. When I went to start the engines and pull up anchor, the port side would not crank at all(Yanmar 240). I get the proper voltage on the gauge so it doesn't seem like a battery issue. Any ideas are welcomed and...

Wow. These slimeballs are good! (Documentation)

Vessel Renewal I received my VESSEL RENEWAL yesterday from the Maritime Documentation Center. Had it not been for this forum, I would have probably taken the bait. I'll wait for the USCG official notice and save extra money. Thank you Trawler Forum for continuing my boating education!

    Turbo Help

I have a MS Pilot 34 with Yanmar 240s. The port engine's turbo failed. My mechanic removed it and took it to a local turbo shop that felt it was beyond salvation. So here's my dilemma: My mechanic is quoting $2400 for an OEM replacement + four hours @ $110 + travel time for an all-in of close to...

    Found a great canvas guy

We spoke on the phone and I told him what I was looking for, I believe the correct term is a mooring cover. He came and measured the boat, and he gave what I thought was a reasonable price ($1000) and timeframe (two weeks). Two days later I was walking the dog down the dock at night and my boat...

Hit Me With A Dose Of Reality!

From your post, you seem to be going in with both eyes wide open even down to taking the time to charter the GB to see how it fits. I would expand your search to also include Hatteras. We have liveaboard friends who live on a mid eighties 53 Hatteras and the price point is similar to what you're...

    Generator Question

How long do you run your generator prior switching over to it with a minor load? I suspect it would be based on how large the generator is and based on an adequate warm up period. The generator on Bay Tripper is 5kw so it's relatively small. I switch to it within a couple of minutes of...

    Placard Placement

Upon opening my eyes I saw this was already hiding in plain sight on the top of the engine hatch. I then purchased the package of three required placards at West Marine because of course they can't sell just the one i need and mounted under the top stair where the trash is enclosed And this...

    Placard Placement

As I read the federal requirements, it appears that I'm required to have a pollution placard and a trash placard mounted on my vessel (over 26 feet). What I don't see is if there is a requirement on where these placards should be mounted. For example can I place the pollution placard in my...
