Sounds like you have been methodical on this, hopefully just the macerator duck bills. Another thought is back flushing through the deck pump out to see if water drains fast back into the tank with no restriction.

Hip, if you have looked at the duck bills in the macerator pump and they are ok, do you still have the original ABS tee? Where the NPT barbs screw in, the ABS tee will eventually develop cracks where the barb screws in, this can cause vacuum leak also. Hope this helps.

⛴ Follow up on our rudder repair, it has been solid and not a drop of water from the seal. The rudder moved easily without the hydraulic cylinder attached when on the hard, so alignment was good. Very happy with the outcome after about 230 hours of use since rebuild. ?

Our Steelhead came with Amsteel line also, but we have the hydraulic cylinder and pulley style winch that is more expensive but does away with the drum style winch issues.

My guess is it is a check valve to stop possible sea water from entering your fresh water. They can get stuck open & closed. Close all valves in line with it and unscrew the top plug to check the valve.

Rick, all of the bolts looked brand new. We did replace the SS nylock nuts. They were bedded with epoxy. I had expected them to be corroded after 12 years. Now the rudder shaft had corrosion at the shaft seal location and below. We had to replace it.

Rudder shoe Tuesday: attached are some pix of our rudder shoe during maintenance. We did this as preventive maintenance on the bolts that connect the shoe to the keel. Ours was an all SS fabrication original to the 2008 boat. FYI, the SS bolts were in perfect condition.

A good prop shop that also repairs or makes new prop shafts can rebuild it for you. We had ours done last year after it was pulled for maintenance and crevice corrosion was found on the shaft where the rudder shaft seal contacted the shaft and was leaking.
