If you had to do it all over again...

I joined this forum in 2012 about 7 months prior to retiring in 2013. I read the forum daily trying to learn as much as possible knowing I planned to purchase a trawler in the future. I didn't purchase until the spring of 2017, so I had taken in a lot of knowledge from this forum prior to...

    What is this? (Picture)

Here's another angle with the OP's pic on top. The side door is in a different position, but the rest seems mostly the same to me.

    10si alternator

Did you just run the engine at idle? I have a similar alternator and the tach won't come "alive" until your engine is a few 100 rpm above idle. Then you can idle back and it will still show rpm.

Looks like if you go to the members list, then click on "search members", then click on advanced search, you can then scroll down to the country you want to search for and enter for the correct results.

    Galley in the bow? Opinions???

Not my boat, but saved these pics from a few years ago. Thought it was pretty cool.

    On your boat...

Not to change the subject, but if you hadn't thought of it, you might consider Pickwick Lake/TN river area. Google directions says its a little over an hour closer than Galveston. Nothing against Galveston, but I don't think you'll find much better cruising waters than Pickwick in this part of...

    Jabsco electric toilet overfilling

Jabsco video on Youtube If you have a Quiet Flush this is probably what you're looking for. If it gets to 3" below the rim and stops, my guess is it's not the solenoid. The solenoid will usually keep leaking until the bowl overflows (unless of course, you turn of your water pump).

    What's the meaning of.....

So, now you have to explain what the "gfc" stands for or did you just pick those letters because they are close together on the keyboard??? :) I would explain where my login came from, but I'll bet you can figure it out. :hide:

    Norek Trawlers Information wanted

If you're talking about the one for sale in SC, it appears to be an Overseas Yachts PT35. Not sure why they are calling it a "Norek". Lots of info here and other places on the web. I have the Sedan/Europa version of this boat. Had it for a couple of years and happy with it so far. No leaks...

    Packing Gland Adjustment

I know this has been mentioned in a few previous threads, but did we ever come to a consensus as to whether or not issues due to dissimilar metals is a problem with this type of packing?

    Welcome from W. Tennessee

Hey Cal, Welcome to forum! I'm not too far from you over here in Eads,TN. Boat is at Pickwick State park marina. I have no problem single handing my boat and transitioning through locks. I think it mostly depends on the boat. I have side decks at the same level as the lower helm and doors on...

Wanted: Small piece of marine plywood

Possible Option This is just a guess on my part, but what about ordering a small piece from here (assuming this type of ply is acceptable). ROYAL MARINE A-A FIR PLYWOOD from Aircraft Spruce Used them a lot in my airplane days and was never disappointed with what I received. Looks like a 1/2...

Here's a few more pics. This boat was for sale on CL last month but is no longer there. I have seen 2 or 3 for sale over the years, but they are definitely rare.

For Sale: 40' Marine Trader Sedan 1978- $35k

question Nice looking boat! I'm curious, you mentioned on your web site, "She's a bit of a dog in rough weather, so I plan my trips to be in port when the wind blows." Is that because it could use more power, the hull design, or a lot of boat above the water line that tends to be blown around?
