Do we have a section for boats found for sale?

I saw this Marine Trader 36 for sale and thought some of the guys looking at project boats may be interested. I don't see a section for boats we find for sale. Shouldn't we have one? Here's the boat listing...

San Miguel was built! A Spira design I was going to build.

San Miguel was built and finished by Lewis McKenzie in New Zealand over a 3 year period. A few years back, I had plans to build this boat and trailer it from coast to coast. After some head scratching and figgerin. I decided to build a Selway-Fisher design, Teign 45. More boat, more space...

What would it be worth? 1964 34ft Hatteras Double Cabin

I'm looking at a 34ft 1964 Hatteras Double Cabin. I can't find much info on them. It has twin early non turbo international diesel engines. I think they make about 200-220hp each but loads of torque with a redline of 2800 rpm. The boat runs out well and the interior is in really good condition...

Someone was seeking an Albin 25. Here you are.

I didn't feel it right to place this in the for sale area because it's not my boat. I think I remember someone recently looking for an Albin 25. I found a decent one with a possible trailer. If you can prove to the owner his asking price is out of line, he will lower it. He wants to put an...

Internet onboard world wide is here!

Onboard internet that spans most of the globe is here. Sailing channel SVDelos has had it for over a year in an experimental form. The release for the recreational market is supposed to be coming soon. Bryan and Karin have only good things to say about their set up and they have let others use...

Seeking tips for mold removal from carpet.

Here's the back story. My mother was on her way home from work. An intersection had flooded. Normally this intersection doesn't flood but the drain was clogged. A line of lifted trucks sped by my mother, spraying her car with a deluge of water. She slowed down but couldn't see the flooded road...

    Faux Teak interior flooring?

I really like the look of gray or light tan teak interior flooring. I don't have the money or patience to do real proper teak flooring. I've been looking for something similar off the self that is cheaper. Something like a waterproof laminate or possible a vinyl sheet product with good slip...

    Stove/Range Ventilation Hood Question

Over the years I have seen boats with and without ventilation hoods over the stove. In general what are your thoughts on having one aboard a live aboard boat? I'm not concerned with power usage, installation, or any of the technical stuff. Just looking at good reason for or against having one...

    Bilgeless boat and shaft seals

In the engine room of the boat I am building, there are no real bilge(s). The lower hull is the engine room floor. The recommended shaft seal is a Halyard style shaft seal which is an oil filled seal. They can be seen about half way down this page with pics and full description on how they work...

Anchor stowage in hawse pipe or on pulpit?

My boat has a nearly plumb stem with very little flare in the bow. Most dutch barges carry their anchor in a hawse pipe. Maybe a different term. Because the bow is plumb and there is no flare, the anchor can hit the bow and cause damage when being lowered from a pulpit. Any ideas or suggestions...

    Heat Exchangers, Types and explainations.

For those that aren't familiar with heat exchangers, and those that are, I encourage you to have a look at these two videos. I've worked with heat exchangers since I was in school in my teens to learn industrial maintenance mechanics. I learned so new stuff about these heat exchangers and they...

    Eberspacher/clone diesel forced air heaters

I've installed several of these units over the years in RVs strictly by the install manuals. I know they are popular with boats. I plan to have one or two aboard my boat. I stumbled upon this guys videos. He has a lot of videos based on the Eberspacher clones. He has experience with both plus...

Engine air intake snorkel above the PH?

I've seen some commercial boats with an engine air intake snorkels above the pilothouse. One guy I watch on youtube bought a commercial boat to use for a hobby business and it has one. I thought these were just simple engine room air intakes, but they are piped directly into the air filter...

    Heat and AC ducting question.

Does your heat and AC systems use the same ducting? If so, are there dampeners or someway to stop back feeding the system that is not in use? My concern when using heat or AC is loosing air through the system that is not in use. My idea is to build or have built a plenum that allows me to block...

    Dinette vs. U shape settee

Pros, cons, preferences. I have an area to build either a U shape settee or a dinette. This will be the only lounging area inside the main cabin. The water tank(s) are underneath whichever I decide to build. I may have dinner guest(s) aboard but that will be a rare occasion. I also don't watch...

    Boat AirBnB?

Thinking about future uses of the boat to make a little money to offset some expenses. I have heard some people AirBnB their boats as they travel. What would be the issues with doing this? Insurance is one. Would a captain license and CG cert for passenger duty be required, if the boat remains...

    Lightning strike, dead electronic engine

I thought this would interest some with electronically run engines. Granted this boat was on the hard. I don't know if that makes it more or less susceptible to being hit. 42 foot Osmond was hit. The post is over on the DE forum but I will post the original post here. Boat was actually on a...

    Slide anchor? Anyone seen these?

I sub to Iboats and today, I got an ad for a slide anchor. When I saw it, I thought cool an anchor for water toys like a floating slide or those blow-up toys that are anchored dockside. Upon further inspection, they are meant for boats and pretty large boats at that. Anyone have experience with...

Need help selecting a new transmission.

Through research, I have narrowed my transmission choices down to two that will work the Beta 38 engine going in my boat. The two units are the PRM Newage PRM125 and the Technodrive/Twin-disc TMC-60-A. Both of these units are very similar in design and operate the same. Both are cone clutch...

Cargile Cutter Cruisers, Have you seen these?

I was thumbing through some of my old saved emails and came across this WordPress blog about these Cargile Cutter Cruisers. I thought they were interesting enough to mention. It's kind of an oddball but very unique. I'm not sure I like the end result but do like the idea behind them...

Tools on board. Metric? SAE for sure.

When I was an auto tech in the '90s, I ran into vehicles with both standard and metric fasteners. I still see it from time to time with some equipment I own. When I moved on from being an auto tech, I sold most of my tools. I had no place to move several thousand pounds of tools and tool boxes...

    Fuel lines and mounting quiestion.

Aluminum, copper, or stainless steel for fuel lines, pros and cons. I'm leaning toward copper because I can get the valves I am planning to use in brass. Also, how are your fuel lines mounted? I'm thinking of using P clamps like the pic below. SS of course.
