No Power At Engine Gauge/Starting Panel

Senator 35 Absolutely. I will always wonder what the break looks like. Wire clipped and labeled.

No Power At Engine Gauge/Starting Panel

Well, it is fixed, We traced wires as best we could and determined that the power for the panel came from the starter. We did not have continuity through it but could not access all of it. Ran a new #10 feed to key switch and she started right up. It is amazing how these things happen...

    ICW Norfolk to Beaufort

Ditto...."You had me until River Dunes Not to sidetrack the discussion, River Dunes is, indeed, a nice marina, but it is in the middle of nowhere and there is no reason to miss the wonderful town of Oriental when the Oriental Inn Marina is right there in the middle of everything." I just made...

    Water heater replacement - advice?

Get you a small adapter to temporarily connect the two hoses from the engine clamp these closed before disconnecting and get you a short length of hose to use to drain heater into milk carton and then to connect inlet and outlet for the stuff that is waiting for you to move the heater so it will...

Have you checked your throttle linkage to make sure you are getting the full throw? How about trying the throw from all control stations?

If you are locked into a weekend time frame weather can be an issue going to/from Ocrakoke. I would plan carefully. Navigating to Silver Lake is a piece of cake just be aware of the ferries coming out. Another possibility is to little Washington or even Belhaven. There are two really decent...

Assuming all connections are clean and good and the battery is up have you hit the solenoid with a hammer while trying to start?

It is my preference with a nice long waterfront with shops, good places to eat and great people watching. Time your arrival close to slack tide which shouldn't be a problem and docking will be a piece of cake. Of course, don't pick the windiest day and the middle of a thunderstorm. Don't ever...

The dock hands at Beaufort Docks are the best. Get them a line and they will get you in if that ends up being your choice. Beaufort Docks is right in the middle of things.

Need help and advice - new issue with shaft seal

As I mentioned early on, first blush is a situation that could get ugly. Universal joints and alignment can also be an issue if the angles are such that the u-joints mechanically accelerate at different rates. Slow turn, not much problem; faster turning and strange things can start happening...

Need help and advice - new issue with shaft seal

That entire assembly looks suspicious. I have this feeling it is just waiting for something to go seriously wrong. The stuffing box appears conventional but the attachment/connection to the shaft log does not look "standard" to me unless something just isn't apparent.

That pic is from the towndock.net website. Saw your boat there last night while having a beverage at Tiki. Try going to either Adams Creek and anchoring behind # 9 or go to South River and anchor off the cemetery. In either case you are not far from Oriental if something does not co-operate.
