    A favorite place to display a documentation number is on the inside of the transom. If done right, should be about 3 inch tall numbers.

    what makes a trawler suitable for ocean crossings?

    Tankage is a big part of the equation, add to that displacement (the heavier the boat is, the more "sea kindly" it will be. Also a high foredeck doesn't hurt either.

    Removing wooden plugs

    I am going to refinish the interior of a 35 year old boat. The wooden sections of the interior are held in place with screws and the holes are plugged. How can I remove the plugs without damaging the surrounding wood and still be able to remove the screws?:confused:

    Gutters on a KK-42

    You should all look into "ESSENTIAL PRODUCTS" They make the RV type rain gutters for RV's and boats. It's not 1 inch, but it does the job. It come in black, white and ivory. 800 560 7147. I have used it on two boats so far, and I am happy with it.

    A little more difficult to steer, you will not be able to go as fast. Otherwise, not a problem. You will not hurt anything.

    If you have a twin engine boat, there should be no need for a tow. The boat will run just fine on one engine. Just a little more difficult to steer.

    Remove side curtain, "bunch up" the two sides of the "naugahide" and poke a hole in the inside layer with a soldering iron. this will leave a hole with the edges sealed by heat and will drain any water getting in through the seam where the clear vinyl is sewn between the two layers of "naugahide".
