    Detroit 6v53 Exhaust Gaskets

Success, maybe. MTU still manufactures the gaskets, and their distributor in Tampa has ordered them. They should be in Monday, I'll run up there with the riser and if they fit we're back on the water next week.

    Detroit 6v53 Exhaust Gaskets

I'm having an impossible time sourcing exhaust gaskets for my '84 6V53 Detroits. Had to rebuild the turbos, and the mechanic had to pull the exhaust riser from the manifold in order to remove the turbos. We're all ready to go, with rebuilt turbos and injectors, but simply can't find this one...

    Whaler 110 Sport, too heavy?

@Flywright - that's exactly my Whaler, without the helm. Looks like my outboard, too. Looks like I need to do a couple of things. First find the actual weight of the boat. The link folivier posted is where I got the 250lb hull weight figure, but that just doesn't seem right to me given how...

    Whaler 110 Sport, too heavy?

Yeah, 460 is the figure I found on the Boston Whaler site. I'll take it down and weigh it on the trailer and try to calculate the total weight. Not much historical info on their site, I might give them a call. Given that the Californian weighs in at 32,000 I guess another 600 isn't going to...

    Whaler 110 Sport, too heavy?

I got a good deal on an '81 Whaler 110 Sport with an older Johnson 28SPL 2 stroke. The idea was to replace our very leaky old Avon RIB with a hard dink, it's just too difficult to get the big, fat, old Labrador into the inflatable. I'm a bit concerned about the extra weight, though. The specs I...

    SW Fl newbies

Yep, that was on the must have list. A sedan would probably have worked better than a trunk, but we couldn't find one in our price/size range. Looked at a Mainship 350/390 and almost went for it, but the 43 has so much more space inside and was 30K cheaper. Anyone here up at Riviera Dunes?

Howdy! We're the new owners of Pegasus, a 1984 Californian 43 Cockpit. Home port will be Riviera Dunes Marina on the Manatee river in Palmetto. Short drive from our land base in Sarasota. We'll be coastal cruising this summer and fall, coming to grips with the biggest boat we've owned, and...
