As seems to be my pattern, I rushed into something without thinking it totally through.

I was doing a major rewiring project on my boat and decided (in the spur of the moment) to replace the old wiring harnesses from the engines.

Fast forward, I finished the major wiring project in the boat and now am ready to rewire the engines.

I carefully rewired each of the 4 control stations based on the general perkins wiring diagram. I ran all the wires to terminal blocks.

So now I have 4 terminal blocks and started to scratch my head as to what gets connected to what. (Sigh)

I can't see to find a wiring diagram that shows how the connections in the OCM wiring harness (for dual station) are connected. (If anyone has one I would be greatly in your debt).

So I am trying to logically work everything out and could use some help.

Some things seem obvious:
1. The sensors (I have Water Temp, Gear Pressure, and Oil Pressure) I assume the upper station I can wire directly down to the lower station and then wire directly to the applicable sensor.
2. The starter I can wire directly to the the transmission switch on the eng, and then from the trans switch to the starter solenoid. But should I connect the starter line on the upper station directly to the starter line on the lower station?
3. The feed to the starter switch seems confusing. The diagrams look like it comes from the alternator. Can it not come directly from the battery?

Lots for me to learn and figure out...any starting help would be appreciated.

Chris

This is from my Perkins manual.

BS Could you do us a favor and re-take that wiring diagram photo into 4 zoomed in quarters. My manual is missing that drawing and I have not had any luck finding it online anywhere. Its a little fuzzy when you zoom in. Is there also a wire color key table? Thanks.

Ohhhh please - I'd love to get a copy of the diagram.
Documentation isso lacking on an older boat.

let me see if I can find it...I actually looked for that first. I had some pictures saved and quarters with notes. But I cant find them.

This is better but if I can find my oher ones I had them quartered so you could print and tape them togther

One thing to note here. As you can see in the diagram, most connections for upper helm are actually made on the backs of the lower helm terminals. This a terrible solution. When rewiring, I used a terminal block behind the lower helm gauge panel and routed all wires to the terminal block. Then from the terminal block to each help station gauge panel. In case its useful here is my journey for upper and lower helm gauge/system rewire. Apologies for the crappy videos...lol.
