    Remote Switch for Block Heaters

I also leave the block heater, on the Lehman, plugged in 24/7 - any additional energy cost will be offset by lower long term costs - in the engine maintenance department. I like to keep systems simple: Block heater plugged into a GFCI outlet and controlled with a breaker panel switch.

    Spotlight vs LED FLoodlight

I did consider ordering the extra control head, but in practice I think it would be easier to control manually. The spotlight is a foot away from the ships wheel on the upper helm, so very easy to grab with one hand and moving it manually - rather than using a control that would be installed...

    Spotlight vs LED FLoodlight

Thanks for the recommendation Jmarsh203! I have pulled the trigger and ordered the Arges Profocus (Spot/Flood). Its rugged and will be easy to control from the lower helm. I can also easily move it manually from the upperhelm. Spotlight + control head + flat mount: $1120 CAD...

    eBikes - thoughts?

I built a nice ebike out a dahon last year for my wife, and after 6 weeks on the water last summer I'm building myself one this spring - already got the bike off Craigslist. I see you had a dahon in the past, but I like the way the newer ones fold up, much like a brompton. I lock it up covered...

    Spotlight vs LED FLoodlight

Thanks for the additional info. I was looking at the ability to have 2 control stations too, but one is fine - if it is turned on and in manual mode, I can easily control it from the top helm within arms reach. There are some pretty good videos that show how easy it is to control in manual too -...

    Spotlight vs LED FLoodlight

I like the look of these Whelen units- compared to the marine solution. If I can't fix the one I have then, I'll definitely go this route. Give me a opportunity to build a nice mount for it :)

    Spotlight vs LED FLoodlight

Hi all, Thanks for all the thought and comments put into this. I mostly want the light for the early morning travels too, as we plan on doing a few more trips where the extra few hours in the morning will open up more "fair' weather and travelling windows. It seems like there is a consensus...

    Spotlight vs LED FLoodlight

Thanks Comodave, I do have a decent handheld spotlight that I always have handy, but I only like to consider it as a emergency replacement and/or a redundancy. My ideal is to add the hardware to the boat w/ switches at both helms.

    Spotlight vs LED FLoodlight

Hi all, I have a older 8" AFI "The Torch" floodlight on my flybridge, which has a small control panel in wheelhouse. The on/off works, but I cannot swivel it at all and cannot easily replace the bulbs or components, so I am looking to upgrade/replace and would like any suggestions...
