I tried to test the motor before removing it but it didn't work. The gear on the motor is not a worm drive: The output does change direction at the drum gear box so there could be a worm drive there. Thanks for the input, Bruce

Hi, Does anyone have one of these? The company is no longer in business. I am rebuilding it. I thought that after removing the motor, I would be able to unspool the rode. No joy! Should it unspool manually? I don't want to spend the time and $ to find out that I have a gear box...
