    Hello.....From North Carolina

George, I have stayed at the Galley several times, a couple of days at a time and at the Grand now for almost two years. Sorry there is no comparison. Before you ask yes I have eaten at Persimmons and like the restaurant. Using the unfortunate death of a young man at the Grand as an excuse to...

    I have a dog problem

You have the correct answer. Garhauer in CA makes an outboard motor crane that is $300. It will work great for a 90# dog if used with the sling mentioned above. Garhauer Marine Hardware -5887135

    Hello from Long Island NY

Going up the ladder is not the problem. Coming down is where he will get hurt. 80 lb dogs can't continue to put that kind of force on the pasterns. He will break a leg if you are not careful. Lowering him down with the davit will be the best thing for him. Use a working harness or sometime...

Coastal Cruising Vs Passagemaking, boat capabilities

Not unlike Lake Erie. Been out there with little or no wind and the swells were three to four foot. Then a small front blows through, winds get up to 15 kts and the tops of the swells turn white. All this can happen within an hour and when you are fifteen miles out you are not getting back in...

    E15 Gasoline warning from AAA

Here in NC we don't have Union 76 or at least that I know of. But we have a couple of stores that are like Wawas, private owned and some other private brands, God knows where their gas comes from, as well. We have BP, Shell, Exxon, Citco and one Sunoco on the way to my boat. I'm not to...

    E15 Gasoline warning from AAA

Well E-85 has been around for years and we don't use it. So I don't think this will get the play either. My M/B is capable of using E-85 but I have never used it in the car. Just can't bring myself to doing it. Most stations, or should I say a lot of stations here in NC have non ethanol mid...

We all know the boat you own, what's your daily driver?

Citroen has always built a nice car. They failed in the US as almost every other European car company has (except the Germans) by not understanding the US car business. They all tried to run their operations as they were in Europe. Small mom and pop business with the owner living upstairs. Parts...

    Hello.....From North Carolina

We know that we can get a Carolina Skiff up there also but the boat this gentlemen is driving is a 43 Mainship and it drafts 4'+. With the wind blowing with any form of a west factor that makes Beard Creek skinny for your 2.5' boat as well. Least of all a 4'+ draft. Doesn't it?

    Tranny fluid as fuel additive

I was talking at the storage tanks that the oil companies use. For instance Sun Oil or Exon has a depot from which it sends its trucks to all of the service stations within a certain district. I was referring to the filling of those trucks. They carry somewhere about 7,500 gallons in them...

    Tranny fluid as fuel additive

Sorry to say I missed ever seeing or working on that car. I went on line to see some of the pictures and in ti's race pictures it looks like it cornered like a TR-2. The car looks a bit like a TR. But a boxer engine. I never knew the Brits to have such leanings and water cooled at that. I...

    Tranny fluid as fuel additive

I read someplace when researching this particular problem that this is not the case in Europe. VW said that the lines from the various tanks run down to the pump directly from each tank and the pump is right at the tank car / truck fill. So in effect the cross contamination is non existent in...

    Tranny fluid as fuel additive

But that engine had a mechanical fuel injection pump not an electrical high pressure pump like the TDI. Also the pump is not the same on early TDIs. This just started since the 2009 version TDI that meets the new EPA specs. The problem was thought to be the material used in the high pressure...
