TF Gathering in SE Florida 2019

Hi Al. We are staying close to home. I am sad to say that, with everything happening in the US right now, it is not our destination of choice. Which is very sad, considering how many good friends (like the TF gang) we have down there. I don't want this to turn into a political flame war, so...

For Sale: American Tug 34 for Sale

We have decided to put Loons Nest on the market. Her listing should appear in the usual places in about 10 days. In the meantime, if anybody wants to inquire - drop me an email at DRiveAT34@gmail.com. Having owned her for a year and a half, we can honestly say there is no better cruising boat...

    Best laptop for screen visibility

I have a Dell XPS 15" running CE in my pilothouse. It's excellent - very bright, and I love the touchscreen.

    American Tug 34

Maria and I believe the AT 34 is simply the best coastal cruiser for a couple there is. We are very comfortable living aboard - more storage space than we can use. The engine access is great (I am 6'5"), and she is stable and seakindly. Plenty of admiring looks wherever we are. I would buy...

Summer Storage in N. or S. Carolina?

While browsing on Active Captain I have discovered that marina rates in the Carolinas (for example around New Bern NC) are a LOT cheaper than anything down here in Florida. So I am starting to think we should haul out for the summer somewhere north of FL. The priorities we have are, in order...

    Wanted: American Tug 34

Hi Kent. I sent you a PM with a couple of questions. One of them you have answered here (was an East Coast vessel ok?) My other question is what vintage of boat are you looking for. There is a big difference in price between a 2001 and a 2015. So I guess what I am asking is what's your...

    House battery bank

Hi TB We have two 4D AGMs = 400ah capacity. I would like to have a third one but don't really have the space. OTOH we have 450w of solar charging capability, which is great. I encourage you to consider solar if you are designing a new house bank system. Good luck. David

Fort Myers to Marathon - Planning

Hi Larry. Sorry - I just saw your post. The trip down to Marathon was fine. We paused at Marco Island for 2 nights to wait for calm weather. Decided to skip Shark River and motored straight through Marco to Marathon - long day. We are calling Marathon Marina home for now - good spot, lots...
