Hinckley yard at Oxford, Md.

RickB. is correct, Oxford is a great little town.

Here's a pic taken from my flybridge of the Hinckley yard where Rick keeps his boat.

There are at least 4 or 5 other yards on this creek in Oxford.

2 custom boat builders also, Cutts and Case Shipyard, and Campbells Marine.

Cutts and Case is an interesting yard to walk around.

Didn't know you guys keep your boats there. i was anchored right in front of you back on the 9th. I have always really liked town creek and Oxford has long been one of our favorite towns on the bay. We have been considering moving the boat to Mears from Deltaville, any thoughts about Mears?

Mears looks like a nice spot with good off-the-boat features for hanging out and socializing. It is just a moments walk from the chandlers at Oxford Boatyard which has a good selection of stuff. It  was on our evening walk or bike route and there was always someone with a BBQ going.

Speaking of walking around town, the place is loaded with rabbits and we used to measure the evening's walk by the number of bunnies sighted. A good evening was a 16 bunny walk. It is just that kind of place ... Schooners just next to Oxford Boat Yard was a good place for a G&T on the dockside bar, especially after a sailboat race. And the Scottish guy next to the boat ramp has homemade ice cream all the time.

I don't know if you can go wrong at any of the yards there really. We (the chief mate) were thinking about moving over to Campbells at Jack's Point but couldn't really come up with a good reason to move. I like it at Hinckley, they have a good chandlery, nice people, an it's an easy walk to anywhere in town plud the ducks are friendly.

A tender or kayak and a couple of folding bikes provide all the local transportation you could ever want. We plan on going up for a while in early September when the chief mate gets back.

I guess my few problems with Hinckley is the pool really doesn't get it, no grounds ie: no grass, and the docks are getting a bit long in the touth. As far as the people and location it's tough to beat. Your right about the rabbits all though I think that's an eastern shore thing.

We spent our first night in Oxford at Mears.

If a pool is important then it's probably a good fit for you.

We liked Campbells Jacks Point marina a lot better, but no pool.

Currently at Mid Shore Electronics in Cambridge, having a new autopilot installed.

Met fellow TrawlerForum member Ralph Yost and his wife Celeste here.

Had a great time talking with them. Looking forward to seeing them again on the bay.

Hey, thanks Baker- for the forum.
