TF Gathering in SE Florida 2018

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Figures I passed on Ft Pierce this year except for the gathering and planned to head for the Keys...

We were headed down from Norfolk to spend a couple months of the keys. After the hurricane we decided marsh Harbour Bahamas is a better place to spend our winter.

Larry, I checked with FPCM. They apparently had no damage on the new floating docks. I am waiting now to hear when Moonstruck will be ready to splash to get her out of the boatyard and over to the marina. She's been on the hard to dodge 2 hurricanes. I just saw on Dave and Maria's thread that Allan and Ann on Airswift are to be with us in February. I hope Dave and Maria on Loons Nest can make it also.

Early reservations are recommended. Because of the damage in the Keys and SW Florida many boats will be looking for space.

Gordon, Marsh Harbour is always a good choice. It looks like Maria went by them well to the East.

So this is still happening on a Tuesday thru Thursday??? I think y'all did that so I don't come over there and drink all of your rum!!!!

Moonstruck,

I was there one time, for about a week when coming home from the Exumas. We are planing to spend about four months there and using it much like we might use our own home marina. We will launch short 3 - 5 day cruises from the marina and return for provisioning, bad weather, etc.

I am eager to leave.

What? You cant come now? How am I going to blame all the rum drinking on someone else?

The regulars are great but gullible ....they actually think I help with the event and stay sober ( spending time with the ladies in the saloon versus the flybridge with all the stallions is a great cover).

John, if you want, I will just ask the FAA for a week no fly zone for your routes and then you can come and enjoy.....well at least share the resonsibility for the missing rum. :)

Baker you have to come! Who else will know "Steve"?...lo.l Scott will take the heat for rum evaporation....

Yeah, the sun is dang hot that far south.... :)

John,

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm ok with you not being able to make it.....as long as Wendy is still coming. Promise we'll take good care of her.:rolleyes:

I work only a couple of blocks away from the marina...I'd like to drop in for at least a quick hello.

Everybody is welcome. Great way to meet a bunch of boating addicts.

Hi Folks. We just pulled into Fort Pierce City Marina ... will be here for a couple of days while we tend to a sick alternator. The office said to tell everybody they are very heavily booked in February, so those of you that are coming with your boat should book asap. Cheers.

. . . . .but Baker, you being the CEO and Chief Pilot of a big airline, we thought that you could arrange to be off whenever you want.

Baker. Rum be damned, I’ll have plenty even for you. I thought we were going to be there Tuesday thru Sunday. I’ll have to check with my incumbent wife. I know I have reservations but you know who wants a bigger boat so I may have to have us moved to a larger dock if I make a purchase. I’ll have sippy cups for those who spill which is all of you after a bunch of drinks.

Irv.....bigger boat?

If so, please let me know so I can cancel my slip reservation and you can just hoist my boat aboard. :)

Hi Scott

Yes she thinks the current boat is too small. Looking at a 54 GB Europa, 2015. Not quite big enough to put your boat on deck. LOL

What date(s) is the gathering?

...So, here's the deal.

February 20 arrival day
February 21 thru 23 TF Gathering
February 24 Saturday is designated as recovery day and Farmers Market.

This is the high season for the marina with many snow birders. Call early to reserve a slip. Information – Fort Pierce City Marina

Of course, feel free to drop in and out anytime you like. That is except for Parks who has to attend the whole event for his absence from the others.

We had some TF lurkers who dropped by. They had read of the event on the site. Hopefully, they have found their trawler, and will come again. Seriously, anyone that can drop in please do so. You'll find a friendly and disorganized group.

So, come one, come all. Irv has a big boat. If Menzies comes he has one, too. Moonstruck is a tiny boat.:hide:

Here you go. :)

It should be lots of fun and growing each year. Our boat is bigger this year (we pick it up Wednesday and bring it back to the east coast) but looks the same (just fed it some performance enhancing drugs) so everyone will recognize it, just look for the flowing rum and drunk members. This boats engine room may make Ted get rid of his boat and buy its sustership.

Everyone is welcome if by water or road.

BTW Don and Larry do a great job that is really thankless.

Thanks guys.

Unlike you, I bought my last boat first. Every time I think about another boat, I figure how much I will loose selling this one and how much it will cost me to outfit (my way) the next one. So I take 10% of that amount and go buy some new boat toys instead.

I will admit, when I see a Fleming, I get aroused. Thankfully the urge passes when the boat is out of sight.

Ted

I love the Fleming even with drawing more than I like but the 55 doesn’t have a stand up engine room and 65 is more than I want or can easily hand,e (I’m sure you’d be fine but I’m old and fat). The boat we pick up Wednesday I hope is my last too. LOL. I now own 2 Grand Banks, boat poor but hopefully the 43 will sell shortly.

Once the new boat is here I’ll stock it with run, beer and some Blue Ribbon for Jack (Steve).

So what did you get Irv????

Hi Baker

I found a like new 2025 GB Heritage (Europa) 54 feet so I can bring more rum it’s like the old boat only bigger. I was happy with the old boat but the little PIA wanted bigger (typical woman). LOL

Keep one fuel tank empty and ckean to fill with rum. :D

That way you might be able to go straight to the big distilleries and get a good deal on volume.:thumb:

The old USCG seaplanes reportedly had a "clean" temp belly tank for rum when they visited the Bacardi plant in Puerto Rico. ;)
