Interesting discussion for the long range folks on "skinny" cruisers.

Sadly only one got near the required 6-1 or better LWL/BWL the true requirement for skinny , but its an interesting article.

The Eagle is 4 to one, 51 ft water and 14 beam, which is narrow than most boats. Not many 6 to 1. There are long narrow sail boats, but not many power. Boat back pre 1950 were long and narrow.
 
Those skinny boats have got to be a wet ride

I love the look of those old Steven's built in the 20's and thirty's, they just look so efficient ghosting alone barely kicking up a wake, little curl for a bow wave.
 
Our previous boat. Built 1939. Close to 40' length X 11' beam. Twin 73 hp Chrysler Nissan diesels (not original engines of course). Cruise at 8 kts. Top 9 kts. 2.8 gph total at cruise. Very little wake or bow wave.
