My Engine quit!!!!!

Off topic a bit, but can an older style electric pump be inserted ahead of the lift pump in a pinch if the lift pump has failed? I’m thinking an older Carter type pump that delivers 4-7 PSI and 50 GPH?

They don`t have to be engine mounted. Sometimes used as only filter, with drainable glass bowl.

I have a Walbro electric pump plumbed ahead of the lift pump to prime the engine and as a backup pump.

I do have it valved so the pump can be taken out of the flow when not needed.

How long since the CAV filter had been replaced? Be sure the Racor is the right size (yes there are different dimension Racors) and installed correctly.
