We have cruised the Chesapeake for over 35 years and always enjoyed all the places to explore. We've recently relocated to the Ft. Pierce area and hope to enjoy new adventures on our 42' cruiser with a 4.4' draft. Besides the Bahamas, where are your favorite cruising grounds for a 1 or 2 week cruise where we can drop the anchor and enjoy? Thanks.

Up to the Sebastian area or down to Hobe sound and Stuart area.

St. Johns river is nice.
A days cruise South will bring you to Stuart, nice stop. From there 2 to 3 days across the Okeechobee waterway brings you to Fort Myers. A number of smaller interesting towns along the way. From Fort Myers, several days cruising will bring you to Tarpon springs, a great stop with many good restaurants. From Fort Myers to Tarpon springs there are numerous places to stop along the way, you could probably spend months. This whole trip can be done in the Atlantic Inter Coastal Waterway, Okeechobee waterway, and the Gulf Inter Coastal Waterway, so doable most of the time. North of Tarpon springs, the waterway stops and safe harbors are few and far between.

The Keys, starting at Biscayne off No Name Harbor and gunkholing bit by bit as far as you like.

Chokoloskee is a quaint little town where you can anchor near by and dingy into town!
