Hi all
I would like to convert the hand operated wiper on my newly purchased 2005 Mainship Pilot 30 Rum Runner to a motorized one. Considering the AFI 1000. I noticed that the boat has a wiper switch and wires leading from the switch. Has anyone done this conversion? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

"Any suggestions would be appreciated."

Find out what wiper motor the factory installed and buy one.

Remember NEVER run the wiper on dry glass

I have a Pilot 34 which I had to replace a wiper motor on. The original model was a Marinco AFI that was discontinued. I ended up using the AFI 1.5 model which had the same bolt pattern to mount to the windshield. If the AFI 1000 can move the size wiper you need, the next check would be the mounting holes. If mounted directly to the glass as mine is you need to have the mounting holes in place already. Since Mainship offered the electric wiper and used AFI motors, my guess is you're on the right track.

Good luck

Thanks;
there are no mounting holes. After reading about all the windshields that got cracked during these installations, i may just go with Rainx.

One of those cracked windshields was mine. Learned the hard way that the motor was not mounted flush. I've heard of some ceramic coatings for glass that are supposed to be even better than RainX, might be worth a web search.
