New owner, older Californian 48 CPMY

After nearly 24 months of looking, and two boats that failed surveys, yesterday we took ownership of a 1987 48 Californian CPMY that was extended 5'. Twin Cat 375 TA's with reasonable hours, bow and stern thrusters (to spin donuts), custom hardtops for the bridge and sundeck, solar panels, the list goes on. We shopped long and hard but we bought a well found boat at a very attractive price. Honk if you see us slide by, she will be named "Coddiwomple" and will be moored in Anacortes until a slip opens up in Friday Harbor.

I've got a 1991 52' Carver Californian. You will love your boat! My only rub is that I wish it had better side deck access for docking. Enjoy!

The Out Islander 64-foot Long
Range Cruiser is currently in production
at Camargue.Greg Sturgis, the East
Coast distributor for Offshore Yachts,
worked with the late Tom Fexas to create
this new yacht, which was designed
from the keel up for a special niche: the
owner-operated long-range cruising
yacht.The Out Islander 64 has the speed
to outrun bad weather (with a top
speed of 20-plus knots), with the range
and ability to cross oceans at more
modest speeds. It draws a scant 4 feet,
10 inches, but retains excellent directional
stability because of its long shallow
keel.Making the hull as strong as
possible, while keeping the weight
down, is achieved with hand-laid solid
structural fiberglass below the waterline
and vacuum-bagged Core-Cell structural
components above the waterline.
The lighter weight also contributes to
fuel efficiency. It will be unveiled at the
Spring 2009 boat shows.

Wow. Wrong again!
That explains why I always felt the Cam/Uni origins didn't look right. Yours always seemed a little bigger in width and height, and definitely a newer look.
We have only one camargue in our YC, but several Uni 48s. There are striking similarities, but not enough to look perfectly alike.

Well whaddya know, there she is. Sometimes all it takes is some Knob Creek for lubricity...

Seabag Congratulations! I have a 1989 Carver Californian here in San Diego. It's the three stateroom model. They are great handling boats and I am jealous because you get to use yours in the San Juan's. Let me know if you have any questions. as I have spent the better part of 24 months getting to know the in's and out's. I too have 375 3208TA's that were just recently re-build.

Thanks for the note. I'm learning the boat, slowly. Electrical is a challenge, lots of things were added, disconnected or removed, and lots of things weren't labeled. It's a lot of trial and error. This boat also had a 3' hull extension done which added a very solid platform and great water access, it will be interesting how it handles with the additional length.
