I have an old Westerbeke generator on my 50' Kha Shing Spoiler. It starts fine but will not remain running unless the preheat switch is held down. The moment the switch is released (5 seconds or 5 minutes) the engine quits. Anyone have any ideas? Thank You in advance..... Craig

Unplug oil pressure switch, coolant temp sw and exh temp switch (if it has one). Each switch has two leads, jump each pair of leads together and try a start. The switches do go bad occasionally.
Of course make sure oil level is ok, and make sure it has oil pressure when it starts.
All three switches must make a closed circuit for it to remain running.
