TF Gathering in SE Florida 2020...2/20-2/23

By popular demand (at. Least one or more), it’s that time again. Some people lead dull lives in exotic places, and need entertainment. There has been a thread by Menzies discussing a flotilla to the Bahamas. Would you like to tie that in with our gathering?

There has been one member for personal reasons has asked to have the gathering date moved to April 1st. That may work well with a flotilla to the Bahamas.

What do you guys and gals think about the date?

Will most of the former attendees be out on parole by then? Will ANY?

Anytime is good for me Don. Reservations are from Dec to May.

The question might be: Border protection being the way that it is, with such a large contingent of TF thugs finally out of US waters, would they let us back in?

Is 2020 the year that Bucky comes to the East coast? Don't take this the wrong way, but Cardude01 is puttin you to shame in the cruising department. I mean come on, the guy has a sailboat and he's cruising circles around you. Time to ascend to the pilothouse and show us what you've got.

I'm good with anything between February and April. Happy to go from Fort Pierce to the Bahamas or down to Irv's house until it's time to cross.

My suggestion was for 2021, but if others want to arrange a 2020 trip of course that's fine. Our Bahamas trip needs to be in June - July next year.

I was thinking about allowing those to attend by invitation only. Most any dates are good for me, in the past we tried to do it near the Miami Boat Show thinking some boats may be in the area for that but it’s a very few if any so any dates are OK.

Hey Irv.... certainly understand the crowd may get too big for open boat invites like you, Larry and The BIG Don all have had in the past.


Maybe if we could pair boat slips better, but at some point, something less than what the magical Watfa and all produces is also great. Lena and Larry and Lou and Don too have shouldered more than their fair share.

Last year Watfa cooked for 30 which was a big imposition on her, she would like to limit her food guest to 30 or less. Don’t get me wrong, she loves cooking and entertaining.

I'm interested if the dates don't conflict with my daughter's wedding in late May...(if I'm invited, of course).

Think about it Al....Ft Pierce wedding on the dock.... sail off on Irv's cruise ship to the Bahamas for a honeymoon with guaranteed great meals and plenty to drink.

I was hoping those who attended the fist and all of them (Plank Members) were automatically invited. Since Irv missed the first one, he doesn't fall in that category. Watfa is of course grandfathered in because of culinary skills. So I guess the really important question is whether the Don is prepared to extend Irv the courtesy based on marriage? I'm sure there will be a ruling shortly.

Thanks Ted. If I don’t go who has a galley big enough for Watfa to cook. It gets better every year. Good times coming. Besides Don and I are brothers, old ones at that.

Wifey B: I think you should start a 2021 thread too for the trip Menzies wants plus the regular get together. I also would never skip a year as hard to get the momentum back. I don't attend, but really do love that so many of you do and you have so much fun together.

WifeyB it’s hard enough to get this planned just 6 months in advanced now you want these guys to plan more than a year out? Still Menzies can start the thread and sees what will happen.

Momentum is actually the problem!!!

If I didn't skip a year, I couldn't get back down to my "fighting weight". It's tough with so many culinary temptations.

Attending every two years works great for me...but planning 2 years in advance is nuts!

Who knows if I'll still be alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We missed last year by a week or so.
Will be in FL a week or two earlier 2020 w the land yacht and will try to make it. Pick a date and will confirm.
Had a lot of good times connecting w TF cruisers on Trent- Severn and Georgian Bay this summer. Would welcome connecting w orhers.
