On the 6lya-stp, I have the big raycor which I was going to fill 85% with clean fuel, but the secondary on the engine I usually leave empty.

Do I need prime/bleed that secondary filter or will the engine self prime?

Any other suggestions

I always bleed/prime my 6LYA with the manual pump adjacent to the secondary filter.
My Racor will gravity fill but it takes a helper as my fuel valve is at the tank.

Don you just open that nut on top to bleed?

Here's the manul page re bleeding.
Loosen top bolt & prime / fill w/ pump until you get some fuel escaping - close top bolt & pump - should start right up.

If doing Racors - I do them separate to know where the issue is if I don't get a quick start.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Don, now it's perfectly clear.

This is by far the most comprehensive write up on changing Racor.

One thing is to completely empty the bowl of fuel by pumping it out he says it's contaminated from the filter element and I agree.
