Would anyone take this boat from New Orleans to Isla Murexes.
We hold 550 gallons of diesel and have 3208 turbo cats

Thanks

Are you asking if it has the range to travel that journey ?
There are lots of variables, fuel burn and at what speed and sea conditions ?

I wouldn't take it on a straight shot across the Gulf, that's over 550 Nautical miles in a with nowhere to hide. Taking a long cruise along the coastline, maybe, depending on the condition of the boat.

Thanks so much for your comments. Was thinking of a straight shot. About 10 years ago. helped a friend take his 48 De Fever make the trip. Had no problems. We left from Galveston and he made 6 to 8 knots with 125 Ford Lehman’s.

I was thinking of 8 knots. The boat holds 650 gallons.

Thanks Tom

yes, depending a myriad of variables.
weather, crew, schedule, boat condition, time of year.. not necessarily in order of importance

Having had a boat with those Cats it seems you're not going to have enough fuel to make it in a straight shot at 8kts. You're looking at a 80hr trip coming out of N.O. if the weather and sea conditions are good. With twin 3208 (350hp)you looking 6-8 gallons/hr running at 8kts. I would love to have a reserve of 20% when I complete such a trip. Might look into carrying fuel bladders.
