Evening everyone,

I'm off to see another boat this weekend. It has a great story which I will post tomorrow.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-powerboat-motorboat/kingston-on/2007-custom-aluminium-diesel-trawler/1448590237

Boat first hit the water 12 years ago but was built decades earlier by the company that built the Avro Arrow. Hence her name.

On paper this looks like an incredible boat. Finishing the interior doesn't worry me.

Anything bad about aluminum? Hull painted with same paint used on icebreakers. How cool is that? (Yep, pun intended!))

Humbly asking for opinions from everyone.

The AVRO boats were made with aluminum panels screwed with countersink fasteners onto ribs. Not welded. Your issue is with corrosion and painting just makes it worse. Please let us know what you find!

That insulation would also make it tougher to spot any corrosion and hold water in places that would be better dry. Please let us know what you find.

This was the last hull that they made. Then the company that was building the superstructure down in New York went bankrupt. This hull sat in customs for 20 some years. The boat only touched water in 2007. I have more photos of the interior I am going to post.

The interior. It hasn't been completely finished cosmetically which let's me finish it to my taste.

Some more showing insulation. Also the electrical panel but not sure if you can read it.

Old School is aluminum, 38’x12’, 13 tons. Love the aluminum.

How do you find having an aluminum boat? Most people have been a bit negative.

Arrow Naut does 8 knot and uses less than 1.5 gallons of diesel an hour. At 5 kknot, no wake apparently.
