Painting my heat exchanger

Any special primer needed? Thanks..
I soaked her in muriatic acid for about 15 minutes and that removed everything except the paint on one half of it. I've sanded that off and am ready to paint.. Thanks...

Mr. B. I would think any good quality primer would suffice followed by coat(s) of finish. Be sure to de-grease well. Acetone or Xylene/Xylol works but wear hand protection.

I used Rustoleum on mine and its held up extremely well.

I used Rustololeum black high temperature grill paint. Also did turbos with same paint. looks good and holding up well.

I have had very good luck with "self etching" primer for different metals - available in auto parts stores.
I also like engine enamel for a very durable finish - available in a fair range of colors.
Both are quick drying.

If you dunked it in muriatic, make sure to super duper flush the coolant side. Don't want acid in your coolant.

Regular Rustoleum has held up for me.

If you use high temp paint do not use any primer. Primer is not meant for high temp application.
