MS 430 Window Seals

Hi all, and Happy Holidays,

We have a 2005 MS 430 Aft Cabin Trawler located on the Hudson River in update NY. In its infancy, the trawler spent three winters in FL and the rest in NY. After 12 years, it appears the internal and external window seals for the salon windows and the forward salon window seals need replacing. I am referring to the seal between the glass and outer fram and the seal between the inner frame. The frame seal appears to be intact.

Can anyone provide suppliers for the materials and procedures to replace these seals. So far the seals do not appear to be leaking - a testament to the original installation and materials, but I'd prefer to get in front of this maintenance.

I appreciate any guidance.

I replaced all of mine about 5 years ago and it was a great improvement for comfort, when I bought the boat the solon windows were very difficult or impossible to open. Good Luck

I found on mine replacement of the flocking on the bottom track was all that was need so the windows would slide easily. The top track has less wear because there’s no weight on them. Plus all the dirt when washing the boat goes to the bottom track causing faster wear. I couldn’t open mine at all unless they were wet. Good Luck, have a great 2018

I took the shrink wrap off of the Mainship 430 and am now preparing to tackle replacing the windshield seals. I reviewed the references above (thank you) and am preparing to take the center windshield glass out of it's frame.

I am trying to determine what the outside black rubber seal part number is. I will cut a piece from the top of the window (under the over hang) and will look at the Taylor Made site for a cosmetic match. It appears that this outside piece is meant to keep the gutter from collecting debris.

I'm trying to determine what type of seal the glass beds to - on the inside side of the glass. It appears to be a black sealing strip of some sort. Dave P's article (RIP) indicates that I can replace this with a sealant.

I think the real culprit is the aluminum window frame. That will have to come off and be re-bedded with a sealant.

Looking for suggestions on sealant to re-bed the frame.....

Also looking for suggestions for a sealant that will be used to re-bed the glass in the frame...

Any advice is much appreciated.

Did you find a source for the Glass to Frame window seals? I have a Mainship 400 and need to replace that seal in all the side and door windows. Any help you could lend would be most appreciated. Email is fourdent@san.rr.com. Thanks very much Captain Ron D

Heres a link to another post that has someics, info and sources for MS window gaskets / seals.

Late model 34Ts have doors & windows made by AL2000 and I found they are a Div of Pompanette. The linked Pompsnette site shows several cross sections that might help if you can match the shape & dimensions.

If others windows are AL2000 Pompanette may be able to provide info & procedures for embedding/ resealing.
