Today I had a squeal come from the engine room above 1000 rpm but it seemed intermittent as throttling back a minute or two stopped it, I’m pretty sure it’s coming from the alternator (dual belt toothed v belt Balmar 200a). What’s the proper tension on these? Even though it’s a brand new JD 6068 it seems like there isn’t any sort of a tensioner, instead the alternator has a bolt you loosen and there is a track that bolt fits in that tensions it.
Also what’s the best way to confirm an alternator is working as the Balmar is not brand new but I was told it looked to be in perfect order.
