No holiday for you young man until you finish the boat!!!

What a pretty top she'll have!!!

Today I sanded the jotafair I applied yesterday, then I mixed up some epoxy resin and sealed around the hatches. Once that was done I removed the remaining stuck on bits of the old plywood plate for the raydome that was stuck on with silaflex then I mixed up some more jotafair and skim coated the area. Tomorrow I’ll give the areas a touch up with the sander then I’ll roll on some Penguard High Build Primer then some grey kiwigrip non slip. IMG_0958.jpg

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! Dull, non playful Jack can make Jill a pissed-off gal. Most disturbing thing to this proceeding and oncoming elevated tit for tat scenario is that Jill may find ways to play without Jack. Well... then Jack becomes a really pissed-off guy!

With both Jack and Jill pissed-off: The work that Jack was going to beautifully finish for Jill and himself becomes such a burden to both that Jack pretty much says fck it! Then Jill says fck U Jack; I thought you were going to build us something beautiful! Then Jack says fck me... no, no, no... I look at it the other way; fck U Jill for not waiting to play until I was done and finished - and, on and on it goes... until neither of either the outcome knows!

Moral to Jack n' Jill story: Take a break when you feel need to and very importantly be sure to take a break whenever Jill feels you need to!!! :flowers:

Rome was not built in a day... and neither is/was Lady SOLSTICE!!

:speed boat::dance:

We just finished our public holiday, Mardi Gras, hope yours was as fun as ours,

Apparently our Mardi Gras (South Mississippi) and Australia’s are two different events, didn’t know, sorry.

Good results at the boat today. The epoxy resin and jotafair patches were rubbed back then I vacuumed the roof, gave it a wipe down then rolled on 2 coats of Penguard HB primer. Tomorrow I’ll give it another couple of coats then that’s pretty much it till after the boat is painted when I can sand it and roll on some nonslip.

Yes, the Sydney event has somewhat subverted the original nature of the Carnival. But at least the full name now sets the scene.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Gay_and_Lesbian_Mardi_Gras

Its become a big deal, which is fine. But at some loss of the meaning most of the world ascribes to mardi gras. That is unfortunate.

I watched a true story doco about how it all started. Bit sad learning what they went through. Now days it’s a Massive event.

Just got home and look what was waiting for me on the kitchen bench..!!

Great job to all involved and a special thanks goes out to Aquabella for sorting out the ordering and logistics.

I wasn’t really keen on it when I was sent pics but seeing it in person is a whole different ball game because it looks great.

Now I’ll have to weld on a little flag pole on the bow rail to mount it to.

Well i was all pumped for spraying gloss today. I arranged to finish work early to meet the painter at the boat. It was all going well until his water separator crapped itself halfway through the job (unbeknown to us) and fine water mist was gunned on to the final coat wrecking it. Painter has said he’ll pay for the paint and prep it however I said to him to just buy the paint and I’ll sand it. Bloody sanding. I tell ya...!! I’ll be happy when I see the end of it

Have to leave it till Wednesday now before I can begin rubbing it back and start the whole paint prep again

Some days a diamonds and Some stone eh..!

As long as you own a boat and DIY the sanding saga never ends. :nonono:

Yeah thanks mate. Really disappointed but oh well. That’s painting I guess..!!

Lol nah I can spot him for a packet of P320 discs

Take it for what its worth but imho 320 is fine and almost a polished surface that paint may have problems sticking to.
Have seen boats peel 6 mths down the track, especially ones that have been built in less than ideal environments where contaminants can be burnished/polished into the primer surface prior to paint.
Not saying it will happen, but I have seen it.

This finish is on a composite cat that I built for myself and have built a few other boats as well.
Finest paper they ever saw was 180 grit.
Never saw any scratches or swirl marks.

P180..?? Gees I used that for cutting back the jotafair filler when I was fairing.

What paint were you using?

The tech data sheet of the paint I’m using says P320 minimum but recommended P400.

This afternoon the Aft cockpit was all rubbed back and washed out. Then I test fitted the roof supports then popped the toilet vanity and basin into position to see how it looks. I’ll take the toilet down on Monday to work out some measurements between the two then I’ll start the fit out then the flooring.

Thats funny because my x painter got arrested and the new painter said the same thing. The old painter was on 220 grit and the new painter sanded every thing in 80 grit and spraying primer today and tomorrow. He will sand that with 180 and paint. I have zero knowledge in paint or paint prep so this is more of an observation on my part.
