We are leaving the week after next for the Exumas. We are planning on running through the chain to Georgetown and then to Long, Crooked, (Mayaguana), and then the T&Cs, aiming for Provos.

Has anyone done this trip? I have charted the journey, but wondering about protected anchorage in the anchorages between Georgetown and Provos.

Has anyone done Long, Crooked and Mayaguana? Thoughts?

I have done most of those, either by small plane or by small boat. Isnt this humpback whale watching season on the silver bank? Not much further. Past georgetown, supplies get a bit slim. There has been a decent railway lift in stella maris area if the hull has an emergency. Provo is very tourist centric if that is what u want. Salt cay has much better diving if that is a mission. Aklins and crooked mayag. Inagua have solitude if that is what u want.

We’ve done Mayaguana, a huge but good anchored and up through the Bahamas twice. Check in is easy at Abraham’s Bay but hours are on island time. Atwood Harbour in the Acklins is good in anything but N or NW although you maybe some swell wrap around. Clarence Town, Long Island is a great anchorage. This would be a spot to wait out southerlies for your next hop south. Calabash Bay is another place to wait out southerlies and has good beach walks.

Make sure you drag some fishing lines. This is some of the best fishing in the Bahamas for yellowfin and dorado. :thumb:
