Anyone ever use the Nantucket Sounder? I was going thru my equipment recently and remembered I had this thing. Coming down the Chesapeake a few years back my Raymarine transducer died and this old time device showed me the depth into a few nice anchorages. I know you can use any weight and line but this is classy and good to have onboard. Also take bottom samples if needed. Just sharing....Cheers IMG_1530.JPG

An old lead line ....mark your line good to have....fwd looking 2 dimensional sonar xdcr is now available at reasonable price.

I don;t have a fancy one like yours , rather a couple beat up old recycled zincs on a 50 ft line which I use from time to time to double check water depth beneath me when anchored. Some shores can shallow up rather abruptly and as you are swinging and the tide is dropping it bears checking. Depth sounders do not show all.

Mine can't be used to pick up bottom material though,.
