My boat has Lehman 120s. One has a Minimec, the other a Simms. Today, I changed the oil at 110 hours. Here's my question. The oil from the Minimec came out golden colored as original. However, the oil from the Simms pump came of dark and dirty. Does this indicate a problem? If so, what is the problem and is it something that must be addressed soon? This oil change was the second time I noticed the dirty oil.

Your engines are (50?) years old, likely the Minimec has been changed out.

I believe the owner’s manual says 50 hours for an oil change...the oil colour is telling you something.

I am aware of the manual but Bob Smith later advised going to 100 hour changes. Yes, the oil colour is telling me something. That was my original question.

My Lehman 120 Manual says 200 hours. C.Marin Faure had one that said 50. We agreed on 100.

I took Bob’s last seminar that he gave. He said start at 50 hours and gradually go longer until you find out how your engine runs. He said every engine is different. If the oil is dark and diluted you are going too long between changes. One guy in the class said one of his required every 50 hours and his other engine would go about 120.
